Todays gift for Susanne is a vintage candy can from a danish supermarket that doesn´t exist anymore. It was a treasure find I did a while ago and I knew immidiately that it was dedicated for Susanne who is a keen collector of vintage boxes and cans. I know she will love and treasure it and find the most beautiful setting in her house to place it.

Today is the day and evening of celebrating christmas in Denmark. We gather with our loved family, have fun with christmas games and share a wonderful traditional christmas meal. Later in the evening we dance around the christmas tree, sings and exchange gifts. And today in my family we welcome two new family members joining for the first time. My nieces little twin boys, I just can´t wait to see them. And there´s actually one more tiny tiny family member "joining" too....my very first grandchild, but this christmas he will be attending still in my daughters stomack.

I wish a merry christmas to all of you miniaturists out there in the world. Thanks for being around and thank you for all your wonderful comments through the year. This blogworld is such a joy to be part of and I´m looking forward to yet another year with wonderful inspiration, sharing and communication with you mini folks.

Todays theme for Susannes calender gift is crowns. She will recieve the antique gold crown and a trivet. (Is that the right word) A crowned tile for use when placing hot pans on the dining table. Hope she will find a place for the things somewhere in her house.

My time for mini-ing and blogging are limited these days. Christmas is getting closer, but vacation and days off from work hasn´t arrived yet. Today it´s winther solstice and time for celebrating the returning of the sun and longer days to come... Time for saying goodbye to the old year and greet the new year welcome. I wish you all a merry christmas and a happy winther solstice!

Todays calender gift came all the way from Australia. It is a Blue Riverton porcelain plate from Lavender Dilly. I know Susanne loves and collects blue vintage blue porcelain scale 1:1, so I hope she will like to start a collection in 1:12.

On the 16th day before christmas I have made Susanne a christmas box with angels and a tiny paper star.
I used to make those stars when I was a child, and I´ve always challenged myself in making them smaller and smaller. It´s been a couple of years since I´ve made the small ones and I have to admit I felt like having 10 thumbs doing this one. Think I´m out of praktice...

Todays gift for Susanne (or Louise) is a little shabby hanger with painted flowers. Perfect for a nightgown in a bedroom. I´m sure John will accept it´s romantic presence in the bedroom, as long as the nightgown is black negligé... ;0)

Todays calender gift is an old coffee grinder for the kitchen. It might be an antique piece but still usefull if you prefer to grind your coffee beans yourself. I know Louise and John makes their coffee in a cafetiere so they probably find use for the grinder. Otherwise it must be just a decorative item in the kitchen to add some atmosphere...

Todays calender gift for Susanne has nothing to do with miniatures. It´s 2 different sizes of vintage christmas angels I found, I would guess they are more than 50 years old.
Susanne, I know you collect old christmas stuff and hope you will take very good care of these cute angels. They´ll do better in your collection than in a pagan house ;0)

Dec. the 2. and the first calender gift for Susanne is ready. Hope you like it Sus :0)

Today I made the door to the stairway. The stairs aren´t visible through the open door. As you can see I haven´t done the flooring yet. The wall with door is removeable, because I want to be able to fix some lightning and exchange bulbs in the stairway rooms. The carpet in front is from Flora, I love the shaded colour and I guess I will have to order one more like this for the livingroom, just need it to be bigger to be placed under the dining table. I have added fringes to the carpet myself, using a piece of natural linen fabric.

Though I am down with a really bad flu these days, I have spend the little amount of energy that I had going on with renovation of the livingroom. I´ve had the flooring done and prepared for a door to be fixed to the stairway. I just couldn´t resist trying out some decorating ideas. And after a hard days work one must enjoy a glass of redwine in the late evening light.

And a warm welcome to my new followers. I´m getting close to 700 followers soon and I guess that´ll be a good moment for making a giveaway. Hmm...have to give some serious thinking....

A little bit of yule...

The short and dark days is surely a fact in this northern country. The lack of sun and daylight is draining my energy and these next month I have to brighten up the days by decorating and light a lot of candles. I have added a touch of yule items to the arrangements. The pine cones were found in an old basket in the house when we moved in. I like the thought that they have been used in the house for many years before we came here.

Facade makeover...

I almost couldn´t wait for the daylight to come, to get startet on the facade this morning. This is the result. I´m not sure whether to dirty up a bit more around the balcony and windows. The balcony railing has been rustet over night. I still need a lot of detailing to be finished like the roof windows, front door, some edges and tiny forgotten spots. Underneath you can see how the house looked before the makeover. Very shiny pale yellow and red roof... honestly I think my makeover is an improvement.

I incidentally realized that yesterday was two years anniversary of my miniature blogging. A bit shocking that it hasn´t been longer, but also a great thrill to realize that these two years has brought me so many new friends around the world, so much inspiration and so many lovely miniatures for my collection. Thanks to each one of you out there. Thanks for sharing and huge thanks for your wonderful respons on my work.

As most of you know, Susanne and I have a friendship that goes a long time back to our young teenage years. Perhaps that´s why we often think and work parallel.... like twins. Susanne is making her house exterior at the moment, so am I. She has been painting shutters, so have I, we were "boxing" almost synchronic... as twins. Speaking of twins our family has just be extended with a couple of twins. My niece gave birth to two wonderful little boys. Welcome to our family Hjalte and Eskild!

These last days I have been working on redoing and changing some stuff. I´ve been thinking a lot about selling my big house, I´ve been so tired of looking at it, and tired of the fact that I had så many room to decorate, that the house instead has been storage for a lot of furnitures. But then came Lea... entering the blogworld and she had me so inspired, that my house is now under a very serious renovation. l´ll show pictures of the house during the coming week.
Today Í will show you a makeover of a chair that I bought from Vilia Miniature. I love the basics of this chair but think it didn´t suit my preferences This is before and after....

A buy, books and boxes...

I made a buy from the States which I was so happy with. These furnitures I found on Etsy. They were cheap and I really love the color and the fact that they are dirtied by time was just a plus. Unfortunately the seller didn´t send as a gift, so I had to pay import costs and the price more than tripled. Still I love them. They are from Pitty Pat Miniatures Inc.

The box and books are fairly new things, I just haven´t had the time to show you. I will list them for sale at Gypsy Boudoir soon. Just have to take some better pictures af details and content. I have made a lot of books and boxes lately, but these small ones are my favorits, love the shabby colors.

Once again I have been playing with paper and printer and made some new books and a new box. Guess it´s bit unrealistic that the cartridge label has been used on a peach colored box. Alas...in miniature world everything is possible ;0)

I´ve also made the screen behind the chair and painted and aged the chair. Still lacking the seat and back... not sure what to do with it.

As a shop owner I have to prepare christmas sales in good time. Normally I don´t prepare any christmas decoration or get in the christmas mood before 1. of dec. But it´s seem like this christmas mini making makes my christmas spirit awake earlier than usual.

As mentioned earlier on this blog I am a pagan and not celebrating christmas with angels, stars and christian hymns. My "christmas" is a northernYule with goats and pigs cones, wreaths and sun wheels. I do add some ornaments and gold and silver touches around the house but mostly I use candles and the gifts that nature provides.

My christmas miniatures are more of the traditionel kind with angels and stars. I have listed some new boxes on my Etsy shop.

Gotta be in good time folks...

I am working on a new range of christmas collections for sale and the christmas tree kit from Vilia Miniature just arrived at the right time. It´s a very easy kit to make even though the instructions were in italian. It didn´t take me more than an hour before the tree was ready to be decorated. A peak and a bit of concrete...

Though I havn´t even started on the interior of the shop, I couldn´t resist putting in some of my furnitures and minis to get the feeling of the shop ambience. In the corner you get a glimpse of a half done Vanishing Cabinet.

The concrete slab in front of the shop has got a wash of greyish colors. Not sure whether is going to be darker, but I´ll will be adding a slight green algea wash and som dirt in the cracks...

Borgin & Burke progress...

The front of Borgin & Burkes is progressing. Door and window has been painted 1 layer of Eucalyptus green, crakle medium and then a dark green mix of Eucalyptus and black. I really love the crackles showing the paler green. After drying I´ll sand down some of the edges and then add a dirty wash.

All MDF surfaces has been prefixed with a water diluted wood glue. I had a go with mini plastering and making bricks. With Michelles advice on using an old stiff toothbrush to make brick strukture and a knitting pin I got a result that I´m quite satisfied with. Thanks Michelle for sharing a lot of details and tecniques, that will really help me along this project.

I still havn´t decided what to do with the pavement. Maybe an old concrete surface with cracks... Hmm... any suggestions??

New purchases...

Yesterday I recieved a delivery from U.K. And I have to say I am very satisfied with my new items for the Borgin and Burke shop. I´ve bought a dresser, desk and stool and a set of 5 barrels from Insomesmallway. The wood staining is really great and enhancing the ambience of the dark and mystic setting I´ll try to achieve.
I´ve been playing with some skull making a couple of days ago, not quite satisfied with the paint effect, but I sure had a lot of fun. Last night I went on a bat hunt. It took a while to fill the jar... Human nail collecting are indeed even more time consuming. I haven´t even got half a jar full yet.

I will reveal my newest project or at least some of my ideas and inspirations for my next shop. I´m planning a Borgin and Burkes shop.

Bea commented on the tulips in glass in my last blog entry. Those tulips are actually real flowers picked in my garden yesterday. Maybe you also have the same miniature tulips growing in your garden.... The botanical name is Sedum Telephium. The flower can be dried hanging head down. An old danish saying is, that you have to pick 2 flowers on midsommer evening, one for you and one for your loved one. Hang them side by side under the ceiling. If they bend towards each other when dry you will get the man you love. Otherwise if they turn away from each other you won´t get your loved one.

I have been working on my backyard project. The tiles are finished but I think I´ll have to do add some moss and dandelions here and there. I had some old shelves hidden in my stash that I found useful for pots, seeds and garden ornaments. The door has got an enemal sign and a mailbox with todays paper.

Dear mini friends and followers. I´m so sorry I´ve been absent from the blog for such long time, but life has kept me busy and drained of my creative flow. Hope your are still out there.

I am slowly getting on the mini mood again and have been fiddling with a new project. The Gypsy Boudoir Shop is expanding with a small backyard.

As most of you know Susanne and I went to our first fair as exhibitors last weekend. We had a fabolous weekend, met a lot of wonderful minifriends, got the chance to get responses from costumers and do a little shopping ourself. I didn´t buy a lot, but I got some really unique fine pieces. The most precious buy I did was these stunning bloodred italian stillettoes made by Patrizia Santi. The lovely antique mirrors are from Susanne. Take a look at her webshop Petit Brocante to see her wonderful mirrors, pictures and other items.

The beautiful glassware is from the german glasbläserei Peter Böhm. He had a working stand and I was amazed by the fragility and beauty of his work. As Susanne wrote he don´t have webpage, but I´ve got his E-mail and phonenumber if any of you are interested. Please e-mail me. The rusty lion is also one of Susannes creations and the roses a friendly gift from her.

I totally fell in love with this lingerie pieces, I had to buy them. The tiffany lamp is also from Susanne. I´m very fortunate to have this friendship with her ;0)

First miniature fair...

Susanne and I have had our debut as miniature exhibitors and we had a great fair at Farum CPH. It was great fun to meet bloggerfriends, costumers and a lot of fabulous exhibitors. Just a few of Susannes photos from our stand for now, but I´ll post more from the fair in a later post.

Look who was waiting at my doorstep when I came home from work. A very little and very very tired Dannie Boy... He had made it!!... He had finally found his way to his new home in Denmark. He is absolutely loveable and if it wasn´t because he almost fell asleep when I took him in my hand, I would have made him a prober meal and asked him to tell every tiny detail of his trip. From the moment he left Bea and untill he arrived at our doorstep...

But instead I found an old tinbox and made him a soft and warm bed.... It didn´t take many seconds before he dozed of to dreamland. Guess I´ll have to wait to hear his story untill tomorrow....

I´m sick with the flu and have spend most of the day on the couch surfing for inspiration. These are some of the pictures I´ve found. I´m not quite sure yet, but I´m thinking of putting in a bathtub in the other end of the greenery. I have an old brass bathtub which would be lovely in a green setting. Maybe you have seen Susannes? It´s the same bathtub. Susannes father bought one for us both many years ago...

The secret garden...

A few pictures of my latest project The Secret Garden. I just show you one end of the greenery since I haven´t worked on the rest and I´m still a bit uncertain how I want to decorate it. The wine in the corner is my first attempt on making a climping plant. I used leaves in 3 different sizes and 182 of them. 181 in the wine and one on the floor. They are cut, painted on both sides and shaped with a needle and then glued on. Just need some grapes now to hang from the branches. I still don´t think the wine is big and wild enough. I need a lot more of climping plants, think I´ll have a go with roses next time.

I want the garden to be overgrown with plants and moss, like it havn´t been groomed and looked after for decades. Not all forgotten, there are things indicating that someone still pays the garden a visit once and a while...

I have done a little bit of spring cleaning and redecorating in the Master bedroom when a sudden impulse made me repaint the bed and the dresser. I like that it´s got a more feminine touch now. Still a lot of details that´s not finished in the room though. I need some new bedding, seeting for the chair, redecorating the trunk, lightning and more...

I´ve been working on the garden section for the Farum Fair. Made som concrete balls and some green mossy ones too. The birds baths are from a previous collection, but if spring will come and my plants will turn up under the snow, I hope to be able to make a lot for the fair. I´t´s been quite a while since I´ve blogged on Obsidian Hall. Not for any particular reason other than I havn´t been able to find into that mini-ing mood. This winter in Denmark is loooong, cold and draining out every drop of energy. Last saturday I went to visit Susanne, we are attending our first miniature fair as exhibitors in the spring and we have a lot of planning to do. I was amazed by all the preparations she has been doing, and I have barely started :0( So today Í will boost my energy and mini-inspiration by making a few changes to my blog and start posting again.

I don´t have any new minies to show, except for these to lovelies that have moved in....

Though it´s the end of moving around for a while for Susanne, the suitcase is symbolic for the fact that Susanne and I are packing our suitcases and going to our first mini-fair in april. I´m looking so much forward to it, and really enjoy thinking that this next winter months sparetime will be spend making items for sale at the fair.

Tonight 00.38 it´s winther solstice. Last night was the coldest night this year in Denmark, today is freezing cold too. Tomorrow is the shortest day of this year. The moon is full and right in this moment the lunar eclipse is visible. Indeed it´s a magical day...

Todays advent calender gift for Susanne is two small french living inspired items for home decorating. Hope you can use it... :0)

I was inspired to show you some of my 1:1 christmas or Jule-decorations. As some of you know I´m pagan and that´s the reason why I use the term Yule or Jul instead of Christmas. You won´t find any angels or santas in my home. My decorating style is simple, country and almost without any red...

My paper hearts are decorated with sunwheels and Thor´s hammer...

I have bell jars with cones or trims and laces. The tiny porcelain pixie is my mums work. I adore him and he´s around all year. He is a danish vætte, a kind of pixie that takes care of the property and people, but only if we treat him good.

The lanterns for tealights are made of jars, wire, bakingpaper and fern leaves....

I love a lot of candles to light up the corners of the house, and especially at this time of the year I think of them as a celebration of the sun to return.

A tradition in our home is the bear pixie choir. The books are some old lexicons and the complete collection is exactly 24 books. When my children were younger they loved to get up in the morning and move the choir one book each day, to visualize how many days left for christmas.

I have some old cones that I found in a basket in the shed when we moved in. I like to think that they have been used to decorate for christmas many years ago. Our house is an old train station from 1898. The clog in front was found on the attic. We like to believe that it´s and old clog from a pixie that arrived with the first train long time ago and now live here. Hope he´s got new clogs and of course two of them...

I like to use olive branches to decorate, simple and cute....

Tutorial:

Go to the woods, find a shady spot with a carpet of moss. Pick some moss and carry it home. Mix the moss in a blender with some sour cream or youghurt natural. Paint the substance on to some plaster or concrete balls. Place the balls in a shady and humid place in your garden for several years... Have fun ;0)

I haven't done any mini-ing today. It was my intention but instead I did some gardenwork that has to be done before the winter sets in. We have recently cut down two old thujas and I love to use it for decorations. So I made a bit of christmasdecorating indoor. A bit early maybe but alas... christmas will soon be over us... Finally I've had some pictures taken of the venetian masks I've had on my worktable for a while. They will be added to my Gypsy Boudoir shop tomorrow.

Look at all those treasures that Susanne has sent me. We have a swap-box-thing going on. We both collect thing for the other one in a box, and when it´s filled with tiny stuff we send it. Last week I recieved the Annie-box, and as always it was a treasure chest to open. So many pretty things. Thanks a million Susanne :0)

For those of you who don´t know, Susanne and I go looong way back. We have known each other since we were 10-11 years old. Our childdream was to find two brothers, marry them and live happily ever after, all four of us on a big fairytale castle...

I didn't happend quite like we dreamt of, but I still feel fortunate to have her friendship after all those years...

A while ago I made some Jean Darc Living magazines. I just forgot to take some shots to show you all. Some of the magazines has paper pages and some don't. The 1:1 magazine is a copy of one of my the miniatures... or... hmm.... maybe it's the other way around ;0)

I have tried to make my pictures bigger, but guess it's not the right way I do it. Does any of you know how to post bigger pictures? I choose the biggest possible, but don't find it big enough... Instead I try to pull the corners. Very amateurlike I know :0)

I got so inspired when I recieved the giveaway from Marie and saw the cute little green box she had made. I had to try myself and made this kit today. I had so much fun the last two days, working on a roombox for someone dear to me. She is a collector of paperdolls and I wanted that to be displayed in the boxtheme. The paperdoll book on the 3. picture is a miniature copy of a paperdoll of the danish Queen Margrete when she was a little girl. I have not yet filled the cabinet, but I want it to include all the paperdolls, some childrens books, some Donald Duck magazines and lots of other stuff.

A while ago I had a consignment of redwine send to me. Very nice wines indeed. Though I was planning on saving them for special occasions, I couldn´t resist opening one bottles to taste the delightful drops and as you can see one half of the wine quickly dissapeared. The redwine in the box will be saved for a very special moment with my lover...

WOW... just what I needed to brighten up a grey day. Look what was brought to in the mail. The giveaway from Marie and so beautiful wrapped. Thanks a million Marie!!! It's even more pretty IRL than the pictures show. I absolutely LOVE the chair and the table, every piece is a tiny treasure, and it reminds me of my dream of once making a shabby house.
